Comfor (Veska, Czech Republic), computer firm, manufactures computers on its own line with a capacity of about 4,000 pieces per month. The line makes computers under the Comfor mark and PC's for other firms under their marks. Comfor is a holding company with two subsidiaries. Comfor PC Mail (Brno, Czech Republic) is involved in computer manufacturing and distribution. Comfor (Veska, Czech Republic) is involved in the sales of computers to end users. Comfor has a trade and service network with 25 centres, three system-integration centres in Prague, Pardubice and Brno, where it also has education and training centres. Comfor originated in 1997. Before, it operated as a branch of Escom (Germany) since 1991.

Comfor (Pardubice, Czech Republic), information technology supplier, has been wholly owned by Wstore (US) since September 1999. Comfor has access to the highly sophisticated Internet trade model of its parent company and wants to become the largest re-seller of information technology through the Internet in the Czech Republic by the end of 2001. Comfor expects that it will transfer the majority of consumers from the sector of firms and institutions to the Internet trade model shortly. The firm also expects a quick growth in the number of its new clients and in its turnover during the next few years.

TOS Varnsdorf (Varnsdorf, Czech Republic), machine tool manufacturer, invests more than 100 mil Kc per year. The firm saw a turnover of 1.3 bil Kc in 1997. The company's productivity of labour measured by the share of added value per employee increased by 25.3% to 800,000 Kc in 1997 compared to 1996. TOS, which has 670 employees, manufactures medium-sized boring and milling machines with a spindle diameter up to 140 mm and horizontal machining centres. The firm exports one third of its production to the US and Canada.
