Carnival hints at interest in Princess Cruises

Carnival Corp. acknowledged that it is engaged in negotiations about the possible acquisition of Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co. (P&O). Carnival also stated that it was interested in acquiring P&O unit Princess Cruises. London-based P&O launched a strategy in March 1999 to sell off its noncore assets in order to concentrate on its cruise ship, ferries, and port operations.
