Casualty evacuation underpins battlefield medical support
Article Abstract:
Advances in technology has paved the way for the improvement of battlefield medical support towards civilian standards, particularly in casualty evacuation (casevac) the midst of destructive threats from warring factions. Use of remote surgery, sophisticated and highly portable medical equipment, advanced training and casevac by helicopter have proven vital in providing comprehensive solutions to the problems of casualty treatment, although the high cost and the need for complex command and control systems in applying such methods is becoming too critical for the army. Ground platforms that serve as ambulances for providing medical support are also showing an advancement, such as the use of tracked or 6X6 wheeled vehicles.

Multi-mission MPAs
Article Abstract:
An increasing emphasis in littoral water operations among the world's naval forces has necessitated the increasing use of maritime patrol aircrafts (MPAs). Primarily designed as anti-submarine warfare aircrafts, the MPAs have shown remarkable adaptability not only for sea missions but even over land. Recognizing the importance of these aircrafts in future missions, the Japanese and US maritime surveillance fleets, which operate about 500 of these type of aircraft, have began planning for the eventual replacement of these MPAs.
