Future Flycatcher firms up air defense
Article Abstract:
Hollandse Signaalapparaten (Signaal) will unveil a new battlefield low-level air defense command and fire control system, called Flycatcher Mk 2, that promises to protect high value objects against 21st century air threats. The company is offering the Flycatcher Mk 2 as replacement for existing Flycatcher and other comparable competing systems, including the Super Fledermaus and Skyguard. The Flycatcher Mk 2 features a full capability against fast jet pitch-up 3D attack maneuvers, pop-up attacks by helicopters and steeply diving stealthy stand-off weapons. The company also said that the new system offers extended weapon control capabilities with missile control functionality, improved mobility and a high level of modularity.
