Cell signals snarl in Russia

Telenor A.S.A. of Norway and TeliaSonera AB of Sweden are tangling with Alfa Group on management issues with their affiliates in Russia. Wireless telecommunications market saturation is approximately 60 percent and may grow to as much as 75 percent before becoming a mature market within one to two years according to Per-Olof Sjostedt Chief Executive Officer of TeliaSonera AB's Moscow office. Telenor A.S.A. values its Russian assets at approximately $2 billion.

Sistema faces tough climate for share offer

AFK Sistema, a Russian telecommunications holding company, is planning an initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange. It is planning to list 16 percent of itself in a bid to raise over $1 billion so AFK Sistema can participate in the privatization of OAO Svyazinvest.
