Child of poll tax
Article Abstract:
Leaders of the UK should resist public pressure to cancel plans for a property tax to raise funds for local 'council' governments. The tax is fair and the funds are needed. The huge negative public reaction to the poll tax previously attempted is also discussed.

Green taxes are good taxes

Several European countries have implemented environmental taxes that successfully curb pollution but do not inhibit markets. British Chancellor of the Exchequer Kenneth Clarke should include some 'green' taxes in his budget on Nov 26, 1996.
