Children of bilingualism
Article Abstract:
Many UK and US businesspeople who have international postings have multilingual children. However, many parents underestimate the problems of children who grow up bilingually. Families introduce another language in different ways. For children that have multilingual parents, the French linguist Maurice Gramont encourages each parent to speak to the child in their native tongue to ensure fluency. Some people feel that children can be overloaded to an extent where they will have difficulty learning. While growing up is hard enough in one language, growing up multilingual can be a cause of serious strain. However, the world is becoming more interdependent and, apart from the traumas, bi- and multilingual people will enjoy an advantage.

Pitfalls of international meetings
Article Abstract:
Corporations staging international business meetings need to be aware that international meetings may involve unique problems including timing and selection of meals; listing of names and titles; and the use of language. Companies should identify the nationalities of meeting participants and make an effort to accommodate cultural needs. It is also important to avoid stereotypes, condescending attitudes, and jokes. Additionally, language barriers must be accounted for, and data should be presented in such a way that it can be understood by everyone.
