Chile looks to sale of Tocopilla
Article Abstract:

The 613 MW, coal-fired power station has a book value of some $300 milliom and belongs to state-owned copper producer Corporacion Chilena de Cobre (Codelco). The proposed sale is part of Codelco's plan to refocus on its core copper mining interests. Some 51% of the plant will be sold to an international associate while the remainder will be offered to the workers or on the stock exchange. Tocopilla reported a profit of $24.8 million in 1995.
