Sino-British port accord doesn't eliminate delays
Article Abstract:
China and the UK have forged an agreement regarding the construction of the $1.2 billion Container Terminal 9 in Hong Kong, which had been planned since 1992. However, the construction of the terminal could still be delayed, as the companies involved in the project have yet to resolve their differences. Meanwhile, China and the UK have also reached an agreement regarding the issuance of passports after Hong Kong is returned to China in 1997. Under the agreement, Hong Kong's immigration department will have the sole authority to issue passports.
