China's telecom forays squeeze struggling rivals
Article Abstract:
Following a boom in domestic sales of telecommunications equipment, Chinese companies are focusing on the development of their foreign operations and becoming a major player in the European and North American markets. The added competition in the West from such companies as China's Huawei Technologies Company Ltd. does not bode well for telecom equipment providers such as Nortel Networks Corp. and Conexant Systems Inc. that are just struggling to get back on their organizational feet following a period of severe financial belt-tightening and massive layoffs.
