Chinese goods draw scrutiny from EU, Asia

China's dependence on exports may be compromised as wariness about the safety of its products continues to grow. Concerns began in March 2007 when the US Food and Drug Administration linked Chinese manufacturers to the contaminated wheat gluten found in pet food. China's other trading partners, including some Asian markets and the European Union, plan to negotiate with the Chinese government to increase enforcement of trade standards.

EU panel blocks genetic exports without consent

The European Union (EU) has voted to tighten rules on the trade of genetically modified organisms. The new rules say that these organisms cannot be exported from Europe without the consent of the countries that are importing them.
