Chinese officials rebut reports blaming rocket explosion on American satellite
Article Abstract:
The Chinese government has disclaimed allegations that a malfunction in the American-made satellite caused the explosion of the Long March 2E rocket in Jan. 1995. Responding to articles that came out in a Hong Kong-based newspapers, government officials stressed that they were uncertain whether the Hughes Space and Communications Co.-made satellite caused the explosion. The explosion was third for the Chinese satellite launch services industry and has raised doubts about the reliability of Chinese rocket systems. However, many clients of the Long March rocket still expressed confidence on China's ability to provide efficient launch services.

Makro Inc., an international chain of wholesale stores, has 120 outlets in Europe and several new ones in Southeast Asia. The company is noted for the low prices of its consumer products which are bought regularly by retailers, other wholesalers and small business owners. It has a very aggressive marketing strategy which involves dealing directly with manufacturers unlike its competitors which have to transact with several suppliers or distributors and thus are forced to raise their prices to keep profit margins viable.

New karaoke channel offers shy fans a chance to belt out songs at home

Channel KTV (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. will launch Channel KTV, a new satellite television broadcaster, on Apr. 15, 1995. The new channel will be the first to specialize in providing 24-hour karaoke services to households all across Asia. The services, which will be available in Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Thai, will be broadcast via the Apstar-1 and Apstar-2 satellites to East Asia and the Middle East, respectively.
