Chip foundry in Taiwan posts rise of 60% in net

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. posted an improvement of 60% in its net profits for the second-quarter 1999. The company posted NT$6.02 billion (174.9 million euros) in net profits for the quarter. Taiwan Semiconductor's second-quarter profits rose 47% over the first-quarter. The company's figures were basically what had been predicted. Taiwan Semiconductor's net sales also increased 38% in the quarter.
