Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom public relations industry has performed well in the 1990s in terms of numbers of practitioners and fee income per employee in the industry. The ruling Labor party has used PR companies to change its image and this has brought some benefits though it has to be done skilfully or it only serves to alienate the public. Hobsbawm Macaulay Communications is a PR company with particularly close links to the Labor party through Julia Hobsbawm, the daughter of an eminent historian.
