Cisco's second-quarter results fell short of analysts' targets

Cisco invests $1.5 billion to bolster ties with Softbank

Cisco Systems Inc. is acquiring a minority share in Softbank Corp. for $200 million and repurchasing the latter's share in Cisco's Japanese unit for $275 million. Cisco, which is purchasing 1% of Softbank, will also make a $1.05 billion investment for a Softbank-managed venture capital fund.
