Clothing and footwear in Belgium
Article Abstract:
Production of clothing in Belgium fell by 1.4% in volume in 1995 from 1994, with the value of output falling by 0.9%. The industry saw sales fall by 3% in 1995 to 83.3 billion Belgian francs, with domestic deliveries down by 4.8% and export deliveries down by 3.5%. In the footwear industry, output was around 1.67 million pairs in 1995, down by 7% from 1994, while the value of industrial production was 1,716 million Belgian francs, from 2,036 million Belgian francs.

Article Abstract:
Total sales by the Dutch clothing industry fell by 1% in 1995 from 1994. Domestic turnover was up by 4%, while exports fell by 5%. There has been extensive restructuring in the woven clothing and knitwear sectors, where employment is now beginning to rise once more. In the footwear industry, the value of production rose by 3% in 1995 from 1994 to 277 million Dutch florints, with the industry being boosted by a rise in production of professional footwear.
