Make-up & hair care for people of colour
Article Abstract:
The UK market for cosmetics and toiletries rose by 22% between 1989 and 1993. Within the market, the make-up and haircare sector for ethnically black and Asian consumers rose by some 10% between 1992 and 1995. Most brands targeting this specialised cosmetics and toiletries market, which was worth an estimated 3.8 billion pounds sterling in 1993, have been imported from the US, with just three of the eight main brands produced in the UK. It is forecast that the make-up and hair care market, excluding skin-care, for people of colour will grow from 32.5 million pounds sterling in 1995 to 36.6 million pounds sterling in 1998.
