Comedie Francaise
Article Abstract:
Paribas and Societe Generale were to have merged when Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) made a bid for both these banks. Societe Generale has increased its offer and has sought a ruling against the double bid by BNP. Meanwhile, Credit Lyonnais will be privatized following a delay, and the public offer is scheduled to close on Jun 28 1999. Credit Agricole could join together with Credit Lyonnais, adding rural banks to the Credit Lyonnais network, which is mainly urban.
