The privatisation of the waste disposal service of Frankfurt City Council was handled by Metzler, which formed a private company to sell off 49% of the service. Metzler had to ensure the 1,600 waste disposal service employees were in agreement with the proposed privatisation plan, taking a year for the terms to be ratified.
