Congo erupts, again
Article Abstract:
Laurent Kabila gained power in Congo with aid from Uganda and Rwanda, but those countries appear to be helping a rebel movement against Kabila. Kabila has failed to bring in economic reform and has alienated aid donors and foreign investors. Africans previously did not cross borders, but Africa has been called on to solve African problems itself. A political solution would be preferable but would be difficult to achieve, and Congo is a difficult country to govern. The rebellion is likely to result in a solution imposed by war rather than democracy.
