Controls cut illegal fish
Article Abstract:
Skipper John Peter Duncan and mate Gerry Ramsay, two of the owners of Scotland's pelagic trawler Altaire have pleaded guilty on charges of landing illegal fish and breaking European fishing enforcement regulations. The case was heard at the High Court in Glasgow. The efforts of Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency and the Norwegian vessel owners' association to control illegal fishing are also discussed.

Jailed rock lobster quota-busters told: pay $90 million!

South Africa is seeking $90 million compensation from the former fishing magnate Arnold Bengis and his partners for illegally smuggling rock lobster and Patagonian toothfish. Bengis et al. are already serving a sentence for illegal fish trafficking between USA and South Africa.
