Argentine President Carlos Menem has responded positively to the challenge of dealing with the country's economic problems. For this reason, the currency crisis in Brazil, his country's largest trading partner and the main cause of its economic difficulties, will serve to boost his image. He has been confident enough to consider the possibility of adopting the dollar, and has been able to present the opposition Alliance in a negative light.
