Fitch IBCA cuts ratings of some Russian banks
Article Abstract:
International rating agency Fitch IBCA has downgraded the long-term debt ratings of 10 Russian banks and eliminated them from its RatingAlert negative list. Fitch has also reduced the individual ratings of seven Russian banks, but kept the short-term ratings of 16 Russian banks at single-B. The downgradings show the drop in asset quality, growing liquidity problems and capital constraints suffered by Russian banks. The downgrades also reflect the effect of the crisis in Russia's financial markets on the banks' performances and the threat of devaluation of the ruble.
