Corporate philanthropy in France, Germany and the UK: international comparisons of commercial orientation towards company giving in European nations
Article Abstract:
European businesses exhibit significant commercial orientation toward their management of philanthropic activities. A study of corporate philanthropy (CP) in Germany, France and the UK shows that firms apply substantial commercial principles when giving donations. Majority of businesses in the three countries assign the responsibility of CP to their marketing or public relations departments, with French and German firms including CP in their marketing plans. Businesses in the three countries differ in their strategies regarding management of CP.
