Corruption: stealing from the poor
Article Abstract:
The withdrawal by World Bank of its development loans given to developing countries that were usurped by dishonest local government officials, businessmen and others and the steps taken by it such as the establishment of Department of Institutional Integrity in 1998 to prevent its money being misused has been described. United States' senator Lugar, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee states that the World Bank might have lost $100 billion till now due to corruption.

Bangladesh, Burma and North Korea are part of a report of a United StatesE State Department that identifies countries that are not taking adequate measures to control human trafficking. Consequently, they could be facing economic sanctions. The people from these countries are sold as slaves or prostitutes, which eventually leads to increase in terrorism and spread of disesase like HIV.
