Cos TO ADOPT DRAFT PLAN ON IT SERVICES
Article Abstract:
The delegates to Bangalore IT.com 1998 are to adopt The Bangalore Declaration on information technology (IT) which will aim at assessing the potential of information technology chiefly in developing countries. The declaration recognises, among other things, that developing countries are trapped in a poverty cycle which IT can help break and that IT has the potential for socio economic transformation. The declaration proclaims that the proponents of IT should strive to abide by various principals which include the fact that IT is not an end in itself and that it holds promise for women in developing countries. The declaration calls upon the proponents of IT, among other things, to recognise that they are almost fully dependent on developed nations for all IT products. The declaration calls upon developing counters to provide IT for all citizens and facilitate the creation of a Backbone for national networking, among other things. The declaration has demanded that developed countries play their role in reaching the global potential of IT. It has also stated that IT has the potential to elevate the quality of human life everywhere and from every prospective - humanitarian, moral, ecological, economic and social. (tsm)

CIRCLE FREIGHT TO OFFER LOGISTICS SUPPORT TO COMPAQ INDIA
Article Abstract:
Circle Freight International (India) Pvt Ltd, the Indian division of Circle International of the US, has signed an agreement to provide logistics and inventory management support to Compaq India. According to the three year agreement, Compaq India will outsource its entire logistics management to Circle Freight India, which will be responsible for delivering Compaq products from regional hubs to end users. The contract includes freight and forwarding, handling Customs formalities, transportation of goods to distribution points, processing the orders of customers and final delivery. (khr)
