Japan's real property companies are taking a pounding, accounting for a third of the nation's bankruptcies in 1991. Most responsible for the poor performances was the large scale forays into foreign commercial property markets, most all of which continue in depression.

The great property dilemma
Article Abstract:
The reduction of regulations concerning the sale of property could help the Japanese economy. Banks cannot sell property confiscated by bad loans and land prices have steadily decreased. Deregulation can also hurt banks by lowering reserves.
