Creative Technology halts output of CD-ROM drives
Article Abstract:
Singapore's Creative Technology Ltd. will stop manufacturing CD-ROM drives on its own due to persistent production and inventory problems and the current volatility of the market. The company expects to rack up $30 million in charges from inventory adjustments and the winding up of manufacturing operations. This amount will apply to the quarter ended June 30, 1996 and will therefore reflect a considerable loss for the company for the fiscal year ended the same day. Creative has entered a joint venture with Samsung Electronics to produce 12-speed CD-ROM drives.
