Crunch time for Golden Wonder
Article Abstract:
The management buyout team which has acquired Golden Wonder's bagged snacks business aims to capitalise on recent gains in market share and make the firm leaner and more efficiently managed. The 68 million pounds sterling purchase, from Dalgety, was backed by venture capital firm Legal & General Ventures. Golden Wonder had already begun to win back market share from its biggest rival Walkers, helped by Golden Walkers' introduction of foil packaging. However, the buyout team believes there is room in the market for two large players and does not aim to overtake Walkers.
