Currencies start to crunch
Article Abstract:
The international Projects Promotion Office was created by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan to boost the global sales of Japanese-made industrial manufacturing facilities. The International Projects Promotion Office will establish a system whereby firms in Japan can avail of help from the government to secure overseas projects for industrial plants. The establishment of the new office was prompted by a Japanese group's failure to win a contract to supply equipment for the Three Gorges dam project in China.

Side effects of IMF's cures are more of the same ills
Article Abstract:
The practice of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to provide bailouts to ailing Asian economies appears to be ineffective since the practice only generates more of the same maladies. The practice is like a vicious cycle wherein Asian nations subsidize firms and industry sectors, while IMF subsidize Asian economies. The US and Western Europe effectively give handouts to Asian countries since the IMF sets below-market rates.
