Currency is key to Nikkei; U.S. rate move expected to affect yen, markets
Article Abstract:
Mikio Takada, equity department general manager of Nikko Securities, predicts that stock activity in the Nikkei will be largely dependent on the interest rates of the US dollar. Mr. Takada points out that interest rates rising by 0.25% could push the stock market's upward trend and that the market will consolidate within a few hundred points of 20000 if interest rates remain unchanged. Mr. Takada also maintains that rates should fall if a 10000 to 20000 rise is to happen.
