DENMARK: BRIGHT OUTLOOK FOR THE DANISH ECONOMY
Article Abstract:
Torben M. Andersen, who is a new member in the Danish treasury's Economic Forecasting Unit, takes a positive view of the economic outlook for Denmark. According to him, the present slack growth in the economy will pick up in 2002. He recommends, however, the government to start preparing a new tax reform. His view is that it is necessary to change the system of taxation so that it is attractive to work more. He regards the sky-high housing prices as a risk factor in the Danish economy as it makes housing owners vulnerable.
