DENMARK: DSB TO PURCHASE 60 TRAIN SETS

DSB, the state-owned Danish rail operator, has received five bids for 60 diesel-fuelled train sets. The contract will be valued at DKr 3bn (USD 0.4bn). The bidders are Adtranz Denmark, Siemens Denmark, the French companies Ahlsthom and Bombardier and the Italian consortium Ansaldo/Breda. Director Johannes A Pedersen, DSB, says it will take about another two weeks to go through the bids. Only Adtranz and Siemens have delivered trains to DSB before.

DENMARK: PRIVATE RAIL OPERATORS INVEST IN TRAINS

The private Danish rail operators are to invest about DKr 600mn (USD 75mn) in about 40 new passenger trains. Four potential suppliers will present their bids in the beginning of June. These four, pre-qualified, suppliers are Siemens, Alstom, Adtranz and Bombardier. The trains will operate the lines Helsingor-Hornbaek-Gilleleje, Hillerod-Frederiksvaerk, Ostbanen, Skagensbanen, Odderbanen and Gribskovbanen-Lollandsbanen.
