DENMARK:INVENTION WILL HELP WIND POWER COMPANIES
Article Abstract:
A2SEA is a new Danish company which has been awarded the contract to install Danish wind power energy company Vestas big wind power stations at Horns Rev, in the Nordic Sea outside Denmark. Horns Rev will be the first real sea based fleet of wind power energy stations consisting of 80 power stations. A2SEA has developed special installation equipment, meant to be mounted on a container ship. The equipment will enable the erection of 110 meter high wind power stations, even in bad weather conditions. Previous methods required several ships and could only be used in calm weather. A2SEA is aware of the growing competition on this market, but Bo Staermose, chairman of the board, says that the company has applied for two patents, which hopefully will increase the lead.

Denmark: New Govt to scrap subsidies to wind energy
Article Abstract:
The new Right-wing government's aim to stop subsidies to wind energy in Denmark will have a very slow effect as the electricity reform pulled through by the former government prevents the new one from removing the existing subsidies. Thus, it is only wind power plants that will be set up after 2003 that will be affected by the Liberal Party's new wind power policy. The existing wind power station owners are guaranteed a certain level of compensation for the electricity they sell over a period of ten years.
