DENMARK: EDEKA REMAINS AN INDEPENDENT PLAYER
Article Abstract:
Edeka, the German-Danish group, remains a forth, independent player on the Danish wholesale market. The new giant Super-Gros, which from the beginning of this year has reached a purchase volume of DKr 20bn (USD 3bn), will lose clients to Edeka, anticipates MD Preben Qvist-Sorensen. In 1999 alone, Edeka won 36 new clients. Besides competing about Super-Gros' clients, Edeka will also target the 6% of retailers who are not associated with any wholesaler.
