DENMARK: FARMERS GIVE UP ORGANIC FARMING
Article Abstract:
Several Danish milk producers that have switched over to organic production have switched back to normal production again, says MD Foods chairman Knud Erik Jensen. A lot of them are disappointed with the poor profits generated by organic farming as a result of surplus production of organic milk. Organic farmers lose money when the organically produced milk has to be sold as standard milk due to weak demand. Jensen says it is not a matter of any major drop in the number of organic farmers and says that it is a natural outcome as a result from surplus production of organic milk.
