DENMARK: ICOPAL TO SELL US SUBSIDIARY

Icopal, the roofing tile producer, has sold Siplast Inc., its American subsidiary, to Carlisle. The parties decline to reveal the price of the deal. Icopal's managing director Niels O. Johannesson says this deal is part of the company's strategy to focus on core business. He says "the aim is to make Icopal to the leading supplier of roofing products".

MACEDONIA: AUSTRIANS BUY IGM PROLETER

IGM Proleter, a Macedonian producer of roofing tiles, is now controlled by Tondach Gleinstatten AG. The Austrian Gleinstatten-based company, which claims market leadership in central and eastern Europe, took over a majority stake in the only producer of clay roofing tiles in the former Yugoslav republic.

NETHERLANDS: AUSTRIANS TAKE OVER DOOR PRODUCER

Austrian Waidhofen-based IFE (Industrie-Einrichtungen Fertigungs AG), which produces automatic doors for trains and buses, has strengthened its core business by taking over Netherlands-based Transferia Holding. Transferia, which owns the door producer Tebel, generated a turnover of Fl 34.7mn in 1999.
