DENMARK: ROCKWOOL'S INTERIM RESULTS
Article Abstract:
Rockwool International, the Danish insulation materials producer, reports a DKr 25mn (USD 2.9mn) profit before extra-ordinary items and tax for the period January-September 2000, compared with DKr 239mn for the same period in 1999. Operating profit fell to DKr 55mn from DKr 255mn, whereas turnover increased to DKr 5,442mn from DKr 5,187mn. For the whole of the year, the company anticipates a DKr 0-50mn profit. Financial director Knud Jorning says the result is very unsatisfying, and adds that a major reason is that prices have not increased as anticipated. He says the market has begun to develop more positively, but says it's too early to know if this will have an effect on next year's result.

Denmark: Rockwool anticipates higher earnings in Russia
Article Abstract:
Danish Rockwool International, the leading producer of glass-wool for insulation, anticipates higher earnings from its Russian operations. According to Rockwool finance manager Knud Jorning, the company has exceeded its sales target in Russia by a third and as from next year it anticipates a profit at its factory situated near Moscow. Due to the strong demand in Russia is experiencing difficulties in keeping up with the demand. Rockwool's company in Poland has thus supplied goods to Russia. According to Jorning, the poor construction standard in Russia and other eastern European countries entails good sales prospects for Rockwool.
