DENMARK: RUSSIAN DEMANDS COSTLY FOR DANISH CROWN
Article Abstract:
Russian authorities demand that all beef imported from Denmark to Russia be free from bones. It is the BSE fear that has caused the authorities to put forward such demands. This handling, however, will entail major additional costs for the Danish meat producer Danish Crown. Danish Crown director Lorenz Hansen says the company has no other alternative as to do what the Russian authorities demand as the market is important for the company.

DENMARK: SMALL AMOUNT OF BEEF WASTED
Article Abstract:
Only less than 5% of the beef kept in food stores has been destroyed after the discovery of BSE-infected Danish meat. The reason for this is that the infected meat was found on a Monday when food stores in general have small amounts of meat in storage because the deliveries have not yet been made. Also the amount of beef with bones and spinal cords in Danish food stores is generally small.
