Denmark: Coop Danmark signs franchise deal with co-ops
Article Abstract:
Coop Danmark will sign franchise deals with the 500 independent co-operative societies in January whereby the societies will be turned into franchise stores. This move will make it easier for Coop to gain a better control of the stores. The independent co-operative societies, in turn, will obtain an option for expansion in their local environment. This deal aims to strengthen the individual co-ops' means of competition. Similar deals are meant to be introduced for all independent co-operative societies within Coop Norden (Nordic).
