DENMARK: SUPPLIERS FOCUS ON NORDIC STRATEGY
Article Abstract:
The Danish retail trade market has stagnated. 90% of retailers reported a drop in turnover in the first quarter of 2001, which has of course affected suppliers. More and more suppliers are now focusing on an increasingly Nordic strategy as grocery retail sales are growing in other Nordic countries. So says Erling Petersen, head of the Association of Danish Grocery Retailers. Most of the leading suppliers are members of the association including Arla Foods, Carlsberg and House of Prince. Even in the textile business most retailers are reporting a decrease, according to Niels Ole Vestergaard-Poulsen, who is head of the Association of Danish Textile and Clothing Retailers.
