DENMARK: TELE DANMARK CRITICISED BY OMBUDSMAN
Article Abstract:
Forbrugerombudsmanden, the Danish Consumer Ombudsman, is critical against Tele Danmark's new service "Mobilsjov" ("Mobile Fun"), which is aimed at young consumers. "Mobilsjov" includes offers to participate in games through sending SMS messages. The Consumer Ombudsman writes in a letter to Tele Danmark that it's "unfortunate" to use telephones for games and plays, that the service could be expensive for youngsters, that it might violate the marketing law, as prized are offered, and he questions whether it's reasonable that all SMS services have to be blocked if the subscriber wishes to prevent the use of "Mobilsjov". Tele Danmark has promised to take care of the last-mentioned issue, but not the other ones.

At the same time, Tele Danmark's 49% stake in the NMT operator Comliet has been sold to Lietuvos Telekomas, which is the owner of Lintel. Henning Vest, head of Tele Danmark's international operations, says there is a considerable growth potential in Lithuania, as only 7% of inhabitants have mobile phones.
