DENMARK: UNICON BETON GAS GROWTH AMBITIONS

Unicon Beton, the Danish concrete producer, aims at becoming the biggest player on the Scandinavian market and one of the ten biggest companies in the world in its field. By now, the company is one of the 15 biggest concrete producers globally. Kent Arentoft, who is new MD of the company, says the target is to grow by 10% a year, and to grow somewhat faster than competitors. By the end of 2005, a DKr 5bn (USD 0.7bn) turnover should be reached, he says. To be able to achieve this, the company will focus on logistics and uniform quality level.

Denmark: Unicon sells unit to Ikast Betonfvarefabrik
Article Abstract:
Unicon is to concentrate on production, development and sale of ready-mixed concrete and will sell its concrete pipe operations in Denmark to Ikast Betonvarefabrik. The parties have agreed not to disclose the price of the deal. According to Unicon MD Kent Arentoft, some DKr100mn of Unicon's turnover of DKr800mn from concrete products in 2000 was generated by concrete pipe operations. Unicon is part of FLS Koncernen.
