DENMARK: GN STORE NORD'S HALF YEAR RESULTS
Article Abstract:
GN Store Nord, the Danish telecommunications and electronics group, reports a DKr 140mn (USD 20mn) profit for the first six months of 1999, up from DKr 96mn for the same period in 1998. Operating profit improved to DKr 207mn from DKr 121mn, and turnover increased to DKr 2,295mn from DKr 1,886mn. Most of the six companies in the group are improving, even the mobile phone operator Sonofon, which so far has been quite unprofitable. However, GN Comtext, which is a telex supplier, and GN Nettest, which makes test and surveillance equipment, report losses. GN ReSound, which is one of the biggest providers of hearing aids in the world, reports a 29% growth in turnover to DKr 375mn, and a 65% increase in operating profit to DKr 38mn.

Denmark: Co-operation will help UMTS firms save money
Article Abstract:

According to the company, they can do this without having to violate the Danish ban on sharing networks. The companies can save money by co-operating in setting up masts and buildings for the technical installation. They are also allowed to share powerful fibre-optic networks to the transmitting masts. 60% of the potential savings can be generated from this type of co-operation.
