DENMARK:HOME BANKING MORE POPULAR THAN E-TRADE
Article Abstract:
A new survey by Greens Analyse shows that home banking is popular among Danes. The survey involved 973 Danes over the age of 18 and they were asked how they would use a broadband link if they had access to such a link at home. 53% of the interviewees said they would do their bank transactions via the Internet. Home banking was the most popular alternative after Internet surfing (69%) and news monitoring (61%) and beats e-commerce in popularity as only 25% would be interested in buying goods and services via the Internet. 43% were interested in video-on-demand services. Every third interviewee expressed interest in video telephony. Assistant director John Andersen of Danske Bank is somewhat surprised at the strong interest shown in home banking in the survey.
