SWEDEN/GERMANY: BANKS WANT TO FURTHER WAP USAGE

Several international banks are to cooperate with producers of mobile telephones in order to promote customers' usage of mobile technology. The companies have formed Mobey Forum, an organisation that will work out security requirements and standards with focus on WAP-technology. Swedish-Finish bank MeritaNordbanken and Deutsche Bank as well as ABN Amro Bank are among the founders of Mobey Forum.

DENMARK: SHARE TRADE VIA WAP PHONES

On 1 August, the major Danish bank Den Danske Bank will launch a new service which makes share trade via wap phones possible. Den Danske Bank's clients will also be able to transfer money between accounts via wap.

DENMARK: CUSTOMERS WILL USE WAP SERVICES

In average about 100 pages were read each day the first week of introducing Wap services in the Danish bank, Den Danske Bank. About 40,000-50,000 persons have WAP-phones in Denmark and the bank expects many new customers in the coming years.
