DMA told to prepare for Web TV
Article Abstract:
Direct marketers are advised that consumers will soon be able to use their TV screens as an interactive portal of shopping and information through the Internet. While Internet-based information interactivity is still developing, marketers can take advantage of the process called contextual commerce. The process is about production companies and broadcaster working together to create programs which provides direct transactional opportunities. In such a program, a TV co-host tells viewers happenings online while viewers can interact through their PCs or Web TV.

Personal communications services (PCS) providers continue to see strong growth in the industry and project a wireless community that will enable customers to send and receive e-mail messsages. Currently, a wide array of new PCS features are being introduced into the market, with the goal of bringing all sorts of information from a wireless unit. The industry growth is mainly driven by the decision of Industry Canada to grant four PCS licenses upfront, fuelling competitiveness in the industry.
