DR SOLOMON'S LOSS MAY SPELL FORTUNES FOR MSPL
Article Abstract:
The Mumbai-based Microworld Software Pvt Ltd (MPSL) expects to cash in on the uncertainty of future of Dr Solomon's - the Network Associates' anti-virus software. The company expects the Indian market to reach Rs100 crore by year 2000. However, the market has been plagued by piracy as in all other software fronts. MSPL plans to net Rs5.5 crore in the current fiscal year as against Rs1.2 crore last year. The global anti-virus market is worth about $1 billion, with Data Fellows, F-Prot and F-Secure holding sway. MSPL has a 30 percent share with exclusive distributorship for the SAARC region. The company has a technical collaboration with the Finland-based Data Fellows Ltd and Sweden- based Advox AB. Marketing strategies have included a free offer of F-Secure to Dr Solomon's customers. Dr Solomon has not been around for almost four months. (nr)
