Damage limitation of the age of terrorism
Article Abstract:
Modern buildings in Britain are not designed and built to withstand terrorist attacks such as the recent bombing incident at South Quay in London, which caused approximately 100 million pounds sterling in damages and adds to the Bishopsgate bomb costs of one billion pounds during 1993. The modern design incorporates a lot of glass, suspended ceilings, lightweight internal partitions and fragile mechanical services. Traditional buildings such as the Grand Hotel in Brighton, however, are inherently stronger and built to withstand blasts such as these.

What to do if you get a subpoena
Article Abstract:
Subpoenas come in two forms and they must be personally served. The two forms are duces tecum (appear with documents) and ad testificandum (to testify), and information cannot be witheld. Subpoenas can often be issued without good grounds for believing that a witness can provide information pertinent to the case. Subpoenas must be served within 12 weeks of issue and now less than four days before a court attendance is required. There are also rules about the print font size of a subpoena, so it is important to establish its validity on receipt.

Scepticism about new sorts of space
Article Abstract:
It is now time to extensively review the dialectics of space, time and social being, according to Edward Soja, who teaches urban and regional planning at the University of California. He is looking for the rebuilding of some of the radical and progressive scheme of Modernism, thus bringing them into the real world. He believes that wider spatial awareness is needed as a complement to social and historical theory.
