Debts, torpid reform hobble TelecomAsia: despite seeminly good news on horizon, firm's outlook isn't so sunny
Article Abstract:
Bangkok stock market observers caution investors against the stocks of TelecomAsia, despite the company's plans revenues for 1998 with asset sales. The sell rating given to TelecomAsia by stock market observers stem from the company's poor management, which has seen its core business flounder and is expected to be so for several years. The company has also amassed huge debts, amounting to over $40 mil. Analysts believe that the company will experience a shortfall of between 8 bil baht to 10 bil baht in funds needed to service capital expenditure, interest and debt obligations.

Critical look at Hutchison
Article Abstract:
Stock analysts explained that the share prices of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd traded at the Hong Kong stock exchange were overpriced and advised investors to wait for a decline in share prices before buying the stocks. Even though the corporate performance of Hutchison is superior, there were concerns on the decline in the stock prices of Orange PLC, its mobile phone network in the UK. In spite of the negative forecasted rates, it was speculated that it might play a major role in Walt Disney Co's theme park construction in Hong Kong.
